An interactive product demo is a clickable copy of your product that a buyer can explore on their own. There’s no signup, no sales call and no waiting. You capture real screens from your app, add short guide text, and embed the result on your website, in an email or in a help article.
How it differs from other demo formats
| Format | Buyer effort | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Live demo call | High: book a time | Complex deals and custom questions |
| Demo video | Low: just watch | Big-picture storytelling |
| Interactive demo | Low: click through | Letting buyers “try” before they talk to anyone |
| Free trial | High: set up an account | Products that deliver value in minutes |
Why teams use them
- Buyers want to self-serve. Many people research on their own before talking to sales. An interactive demo answers “what does it actually look like?” right away.
- They qualify leads. You can see which steps people complete, so sales knows who is really interested.
- They’re reusable. One good demo can live on your homepage, in outbound emails and in onboarding.
When not to use one
If your product’s value only shows up with the buyer’s own data, such as analytics on their traffic, a guided trial or a live call usually works better. An interactive demo shows the interface. It can’t show the buyer their own results.
Getting started
- Pick the one workflow that best shows your product’s main benefit.
- Keep it short: 6 to 12 steps is plenty.
- End with a single, clear call to action.
